COVID 19 Vaccinations update 11th January 2020 *Important please read*
The practice has commenced COVID vaccination clinics for patients aged 80 and over. If you are NOT in this age bracket, PLEASE do not telephone the practice with queries regarding the vaccination as it blocks important telephone lines for those patients who require assistance. We WILL contact you when we are in a position to offer you your vaccination. If you are unsure as to when you might receive yours, Information regarding who will be vaccinated first can be found Here

Primary Care Networks are provided with the vaccine via NHS England. Yarm Medical Practice is in a network with Eaglescliffe Medical Practice, Park Lane Practice, Stillington and Thornaby and Barwick Medical Group. These vaccinations need to be shared across all four practices covering a population of approximately 52,000. Small amounts are being delivered therefore we cannot vaccinate everyone in the recommended cohorts in one session. You may hear of friends being offered the vaccination and you are still waiting; unfortunately until the supply of the vaccinations increase there is nothing we can do but we know you are waiting and we will be in touch.
Primary Care Networks were asked to identify a site which could be offered to provide COVID vaccinations and our colleagues at Thornaby and Barwick Medical Group, Ingleby Barwick have offered their building. Any vaccinations given by Yarm Medical Practice team will take place there. The postcode for Sat Nav. is TS17 0RJ

We are aware that there is an increased wait on the telephones to get through to speak to us and clearly the COVID 19 pandemic continues to affect the practice however there are some things that may improve access to the practice.
1) Use online services: Please do not telephone for prescriptions as this impacts on the phone lines which in turn impacts on your wait to get through. We are taking paper prescription requests so pop them into the letter box at the practice. Telephone appointments can be booked using the NHS app and the Systemonline service.
2) Register for the NHS app - there is useful information plus will enable you to order medication online. If you have a smart phone or tablet download the app.
3) The current waiting time for a routine blood appointment is two weeks. We are providing as much phlebotomy as is possible whilst ensuring social distancing within the practice. If the GP feels that your test is urgent - they will arrange an appointment directly with a healthcare professional, if your test is routine for clinic reviews etc, there will be a wait. The receptionists cannot create additional capacity therefore please be understanding when booking that you may have a wait and appointment times may not be as convenient as they were pre-COVID 19.
We respectfully request that our Reception and Healthcare Team are treated with courtesy. We appreciate that the last 9 months have been a trying time however this does not allow for our team members to be sworn or shouted at. This is happening more frequently and is unacceptable. We know that is is a minority of patients but we are very clear in that it will not be tolerated. All calls are recorded and reviewed if there has been an incident. Depending on the severity of the incident we will remove patients from the list. We understand that things can go wrong and if you feel that you have an issue, please raise it with the practice rather than on social media sites as it is only fair that we have an opportunity to improve or sort a problem as well as a right to respond to comments with are incorrect and at times, unfair.
Do you need information in a different way?
The Accessibility Standard aims to ensure that disabled people have access to information they can understand and communication support they may need. If you or someone you know requires information in a different way (Easy read, braille, BSL, large print or via email/SMS) please let the practice know. We will record identified needs on the patients medical record therefore alerting all practice staff members to the requirement so resources can be pit in place.

CAR PARK MONITORING LIVE FROM 13TH July 2020
Please be aware that the car park monitoring cameras will recommence from Monday 13th July 2020. There are access points both in the practice and in the pharmacy to enter your registration details into. Hand sanitiser will be available and the key pad will be regularly cleaned.

If you are given a face to face appointment, please do not attend early as (because of social distancing) patient numbers allowed within the practice are dramatically reduced. Please attend alone (unless you are a parent/guardian of a child or someone who requires assistance).
There is a one way system in operation within the practice - please follow the directions and arrows clearly marked on the floor and walls. Please use the hand sanitisers available.
We receive many requests regarding matters which are Occupational i.e. requests for letters or sicknotes due to self isolation. We are not able to provide these. Up to date advice on employment rights during this pandemic can be found at ACAS or Gov.uk
Community Support Hubs have been created within Stockton Borough Council - they can help with essential food supplies, picking medication up, walking or taking care of your pet or simply providing support over the phone. Stockton Carer's hub are providing a 'drop in' service at the practice for anyone who is caring for someone who may need help, advice or support. They arrange social events for carers and have lots of information on practical support both for the carer and cared for. The sessions run from 10am - 12pm on the 1st Tuesday of every month in the meeting room, 1st floor at Yarm Medical Practice. Did you know that you are now able to have your repeat medication sent directly to the pharmacy of your choice without the need to collect the paper prescription???
Simply let the receptionist know which pharmacy you would prefer to use (your 'nominated pharmacy') and we will update our system to ensure your repeat prescription is sent to the chemist electronically.
